S.S. Alymov’s interview with anthropologist E.N. Romanova discusses her life, works, and views on the development of ethnography and anthropology of Yakutia. Ekaterina Nazarovna recalls her childhood, studying at the Department of Ethnography at Leningrad University, researching the Ysyakh holiday and the semiosphere of Sakha culture. The researcher talks about her communication with teachers and colleagues from St. Petersburg, Moscow and Yakutia, the development of Yakut ethnography/anthropology, and the cultural life of Yakutia and Leningrad in the 1980s‑2020s.
