Abstract

The paper presents the results of a comprehensive study of the formation and transformation of the multilevel identity of the Russian/East Slavic population of Siberia, which has been carried out at the Novosibirsk Scientific Center since the 1970s. A multi-paradigm approach using the methods of ethnocultural and constructivist research allowed us to focus on assessing the identification processes of the multiethnic community of the region at different stages of its development. The complex nature of Siberians’ identity was revealed; its ethno-local, ethno-confessional and regional forms were highlighted. The focus of the research is on the Siberian identity. It is considered as a dynamic multi-level phenomenon. The Siberian identity is in a state of constant change under the influence of various socio-political forces, new socio-economic and political challenges.
